Srikanth Kompella

Srikanth completed a 5-year integrated master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Hyderabad, and a MPhil from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His MPhil project focused on developing a mathematical model to understand the non-linear dynamics governing the cellular processes underlying the G1/S phase of a cell cycle. The complex network model he developed explained the stochasticity of cellular behaviour and also shed light on the mechanisms of some cancers. He later joined a collaborative PhD program offered by the University of Aberdeen (UK) and Curtin University.
His PhD focused on understanding the fundamental process of protein translation in cells, pooling the knowledge from the fields of bioinformatics, mathematical modelling, and molecular modelling. His PhD uncovered the molecular and stochastic processes underlying the unusual diffusion behaviour of proteins and nucleic acids in the presence of macromolecular crowding effects.
He joined the CIC in February 2022 as a data scientist. His role in the CIC involves employing the tools of data science, mathematical, and statistical modelling to accelerate problem-solving in industry and research.
His key competencies include:
- Data Mining and Curation
- Data Visualisation
- Mathematical and Statistical Modelling
